aspell-de-alt software package provides German dictionary for aspell (old spelling), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install aspell-de-alt
aspell-de-alt is installed in your system.
Make ensure the aspell-de-alt package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep aspell-de-alt *
You will get with aspell-de-alt package name, version, architecture and description in a table
